However, the health department says the patient must stay in home-quarantine for another two weeks
The first patient to diagnose with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in Meherpur has made recovery.
The patient, a healthcare worker at Brac office in Mujibnagar upazila, was diagnosed on April 22.
He was subsequently sent to home-isolation for the next 14-days, as he exhibited only mild symptoms without any respiratory complications, said Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Rezwan Ahmmed.
“Near the end of his isolation period, multiple samples were collected from him and were sent for testing, all of which came back as negative,” he added.
His last report arrived at Mujibnagar Upazila Health Complex on Friday.
Later, the health department declared him free from Covid-19 infection after running further tests on him at the hospital.
However, the health department says the patient must stay in home-quarantine for another two weeks.
