Eight more readymade garment (RMG) factory workers tested positive for the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in Savar on Tuesday, raising the total number of infected RMG workers in the upazila to 20.
Confirming the matter, Savar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Sayemul Huda said: “On Monday, samples of 40 people were collected and sent for coronavirus testing and eight people were found positive. All eight are garment workers.
He also said that a total of 617 samples were tested in Savar upazila as of Tuesday and a total of 44 results came back positive. Meanwhile, five patients have recovered and went back home.
Earlier on Friday, seven RMG workers had tested positive for Covid-19 in Savar upazila.
