Police arrested a man from Singair upazila in Manikganj on Sunday, for reportedly hurting religious sentiments.
The arrested, identified as Rony Satyarthi, 22, lives in Chandanpur village of the upazila, said Singair police station Officer in Charge (OC) Abdus Sattar.
According to the police, Rony wrote derogatory words about Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) on his Facebook account on Sunday morning.
Later, another person named Sanjoy Sarkar of the village posted derogatory comments below the post.
As soon as this became known, the villagers started looking for Rony and Sanjoy, which forced them to flee the village.
Later, on Sunday afternoon, Jamirtota Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Halim Raju told Rony over the phone to come to the union parishad premises. From there, police arrested Rony.
Speaking on the matter, Singair police station Officer in Charge Abdus Sattar said that police are looking for Sanjoy, the other accused. "A case was filed against the two under the Digital Security Act."
