Civil Surgeon Dr Selina Begum confirms the matter
Two people including a woman have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Jhenaidah, making them the district's first two such cases.
The infected people, aged between 32 to 35, hail from Sadar and Kaliganj upazilas, said Civil Surgeon Dr Selina Begum on Saturday morning.
Dr Selina said: "We have sent 29 samples to the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) labs of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) to be tested for coronavirus. Among them, two tested positive for Covid-19."
"The two patients were home quarantined for now as their symptoms are mild till now.” said Dr Selina.
The Civil Surgeon also said his office advised administration to lockdown the district to stop the further transmission of the deadly virus.
