One more infected with Covid-19 from Narayanganj dies

Another man infected with the novel coronavirus from Narayanganj has breathed his last, raising the death toll to 9 in the city.

The 65-year-old man, a resident of Dewbhag Pakka road area, died on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Kuwait-Bangladesh Maitree Hospital in Dhaka, confirmed Afasana Afroz Bibha, councillor of women reserved seat under Narayangnaj City Corporation.

The man with coronavirus symptoms was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday. On that day, the sexagenarian was referred to Kuwait-Bangladesh Maitree Hospital where he tested positive for coronavirus, said the councilor.

A former president of Narayanganj chapter of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), along with his wife, son, daughter and son-in-law tested positive for coronavirus.

Besides, several nurses and assistants of his clinic have also been infected with the virus in tests conducted at the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka, said the former president .

All of them were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka for treatment, he said.

Until Sunday, Bangladesh had confirmed 621 Covid-19 cases. Of them 107 are from Narayanganj, according to Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR).
