An elderly woman, who had been suffering from fever and cold, died at Ranikhar village in Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria early Thursday.
The 50-year-old recently returned home from Narayanganj and had been suffering from symptoms similar to the new coronavirus for a week, said Akhaura Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tahmina Akter Raina
She died at her in-laws’ home in the early hours of Thursday, the UNO said, adding that those came in contact with the deceased will be kept in quarantine.
Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Ekramullah said samples of the victim will be sent to Dhaka.
