The decision was reached considering instructions of IEDCR
The passenger launch Sundarban-14 with 36 crew onboard was placed under quarantine just off the Patuakhali Launch Terminal Thursday night.
Patuakhali district administration imposed the 14-day quarantine as the vessel left Dhaka amid a countrywide transport ban issued to prevent the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).
Patuakhali Executive Magistrates Amit Roy and Golam Sarwar said they reached the decision considering instructions of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), that said people returning from Dhaka to other districts should remain in quarantine for 14-days.
Bangladesh has so far reported five deaths from coronavirus. Besides, 11 other COVID-19 patients have already made recovery.
The death toll from the coronavirus or Covid-19 has jumped to 24,087 globally as of Friday.
It has so far infected 532,224 people around the world, according to worldometer.
