Officials of Golapganj upazila administration in Sylhet have decided to donate their Baishakhi allowances to the underprivileged people in the upazila who have been hit hard by coronavirus outbreak.
Golapganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rahman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
Mamunur said: "We have decided to donate our Baishakhi allowances to underprivileged local people, considering their current situation as they are losing their means of income owing to coronavirus."
He also urged other government officials in the country to come forward to help the impoverished people in order to minimize their sufferings during the coronavirus outbreak.
