Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control at 6:30 pm and successfully doused it at 7pm
A fire broke out at the Zam Zam Spinning Mill Ltd factory in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.
A total of eight firefighting units doused the fire after 4.5 hours after it had started at the factory in Jaina Bazar around 3pm on Wednesday.
The fire managed to ravage through the cottons, threads, various machines among other materials and goods. However, an estimate of the extent of the damage is yet to be determined.
Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Mamun Or Rashid said, the fire originated from the blow room’s cutting section and quickly spread throughout the tin-sheded factory, with the cotton and threads acting as fuel.
“The fire soon went out of control and workers failed to contain it. However, luckily no one was injured in the fire as everyone was on break for lunch.”
Informed, eight firefighting units from Sreepur, Bhaluka, Trishal, Joydebpur, Kaliakair and Tongi stations responded to the scene and jointly worked to douse the fire.
