At least 15 people died on Wednesday while 3 people died on Tuesday night
At least 18 people were killed and many others injured in road accidents in Bogra, Kushtia, Tangail, Bagerhat, Rajshahi, Bandarban, and Gopalganj from Tuesday night till Wednesday.
In Bogra, eight people were killed and eight others injured in three separate road accidents in Sherpur upazila on Wednesday.
Six people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway around 11am.
Five of the deceased are Md Alim, Rokib Islam, Md Raju, Saddam Hossain, and Monjurul Islam. The other victim could not be known as of yet, said Sherpur police station OC Humayun Kabir.
Later in the day, a microbus driver died after colliding his vehicle with a truck in Dhankundi on the same highway around 3pm. The deceased could not be identified, Silimpur police outpost SI Abdul Aziz Mondol.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man named Mridul Hasan, died when two trucks collided head-on in Mohipur Jamtola of the upazila around 5am, said Sherpur police Inspector Abul Kalam Azad.
In Kushtia, two people were killed and a number of others injured when a picnic bus hit a truck on the Kushtia-Ishwardi Highway at Talbaria in Mirpur upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as truck driver Nabil Hossain, 38, and his assistant Ibrahim Hossain.
The accident took place when the Pabna-bound picnic bus from Kuakata hit the Narail-bound truck, leaving the truck driver and his assistant dead on the spot around 7:30am, said Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station.
In Tangail, a motorcyclist died and his passenger injured when the vehicle collided with covered can on the Bangabandhu Bridge around 11am Wednesday.
The identity of the deceased and injured could not be known immediately, said Bangabandhu Bridge police station OC Kazi Ayubur Rahman.
In Bagerhat, a man was run over by a dirt-laiden trolley in Sarankhola upazila Wednesday afternoon.
The body of the deceased Nazrul Islam Khan, 24, was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Sarankhola police station OC SK Abdullah Al Sayeed.
In Rajshahi, two people were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj Highway at Bijoynagar in Godagari upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Matiur Rahman, 35, son of Abdul Aziz of Tanore upazila, and Tutul, 36, son of Abul Quasem of Belpukur area in Sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Abdul Bari, in-charge of Premtali Police Camp, said the accident took place around 6am when the Chapainawabganj-bound bus turned turtle after colliding with the truck, leaving the duo dead on the spot and 15 other passengers injured.
In Bandarban, a member of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) died and four others were injured when a truck lost control and fell on them near Manurtek on the Bandarban-Keranihat road Wednesday.
The deceased identified as Md Jamirul, was a member of BGB battalion 45, said Bandarban Sadar police station OC Shahidul Islam Chowdhury.
The injured were sent to Chittagong for treatment.
In Gopalganj, three motorcyclists were killed in separate accidents on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway Tuesday night.
The deceased are Hamim Sheikh, 25, Liton Gazi, 30, and Habibur Rahman, 40, said Inspector Aminul Islam.
Meanwhile, 25 passengers were injured when a bus lost control and fell off the Dhaka-Khulna Highway into a ditch Tuesday night.
