CMP provides quarantined expats with fruit: Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday began sending fresh fruits to the expatriates who have been placed in home quarantine in the city. On the first day, fruits were sent to a total of 80 people under 16 police stations, confirmed CMP Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman.

Three BAU students suspended, one expelled: Bangladesh Agriculture University(BAU) authorities on Sunday expelled one student for life and suspended three others in different terms for their involvement in harassing a female student of the university. Nasir Uddin, a student of  Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, was expelled for life while Mobasser Hossain, Shamim Reza, students of Veterinary Science Faculty and Safayetul Islam, student of Agriculture Faculty were suspended for six months, said BAU proctor Azharul Islam. On March, 20, the accused four sexually harassed a female student in the campus, he added.

Gopalganj UP member suspended for beating school teacher: An union Parishad (UP) member was suspended on the allegation of beating a teacher in Gopalganj. The accused Uttam Kumar Baroi, chaiman of kandi Union Parisahd of Kotalipara upazila, had beat Gazalia Primary School Assistant Teacher Amullo Raton on September 6 last year. A notice, signed by Local Government Division’s Deputy Secretary Mohammad Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, was issued in this regard on March 15.

Chhtra League leader sent to jail: A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was sent to jail in a case filed under the Narcotics Control ACt in Satkhira. The accused, Imram Feroz Sohag, vice-president of Alipur Union BCL unit under Sadar upazila, was detained with three bottles of phensydle  from Alipur Check post area in Sadar upazila on Sunday night.  Satkhira Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge ( OC) Asaduzzam said: We recovered three bottles of phenydle from Assaduzzaman and he was sent to jail on a court order on Monday.

48 kgs of cannabis recovered in Benapole: Police on Monday recovered 48 kgs of cannabis and 100 bottles of phensydle from a field beside Bahadurbad High School under Benapole police station.  Benepole Port police station OC Mamun Khan said: " On a tip off, we recovered 100 bottles of phensydle and 100 kgs of cannabis in a deserted state from the area early Monday . None was arrested during the raid, he added.

25 injured in Awami league factional clash in Madaripur: At least, 25 people were injured in a factional clash of ruling Awami League in Barail village under Peyarpur Union of sadar upazila on Monday over establishing supremacy. The supporters of Sadar upazila Awami League unit Vice President Mojibor Rahman and its Office Secretary locked into horns on Monday morning after cows eat up paddy of a field in the area, locals said. Madaripur Sadar police station OC Md Kamrul Islam Miah confirmed the matter.

50 maunds of Jatka seized in Munshiganj: River Police on Monday detained three people with 50 maunds of jatka (hilsa fry less than nine inches long) from Muktarpur area of Sadar upazila. The detained were Akram Hossain, Samsuddin Bepari and Mollik. Assistant Commissioner (land) Sheikh Mejbah Ul Saberin said: The seized jatka were distributed among madaras and orphanages and the three were fined Tk 5,000 each.
