13 killed in road accidents

In Pirojpur, a motorcyclist was killed when a bus hit him near Togra mor area of Sadar upazila on Thursday

At least 13 people were killed and nine others injured in separate road accidents in, Kushtia, Gopalganj, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Tangail, Pirojpur and Chittagong from Wednesday night till Thursday.

In Kushtia, a truck driver was killed and two others were injured in a collision between two trucks on the Kushtia-Khulna highway at Laxmipur in Sadar upazila on Thursday.

The deceased was Sujon, 32.

The injured were taken to Kushita General Hospital, said Ali Sazzad, station officer of Kushtia Fire Service and Civil Defence.

In Pirojpur, a motorcyclist was killed when a bus hit him near Togra mor area of Sadar upazila on Thursday.

The deceased was Md Naim Howladar, 22.

Indurkani police station OC Md Habibur Rahman confirmed.

In Kishoreganj, three men were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a Bhairab-bound truck on the Kishoreganj-Bhairab road near Pirojpur area on Thursday.

The deceased were Nure Alam, 17, Rakib, 20, and Nayan Miyah, 22, reports Bangla Tribune.

Katiadi highway police station OC Abdur Rahman confirmed.

In Tangail, four people were killed and at least six others injured in separate road accidents on Thursday.

Two men were killed and at least five others injured on the Bangabandhu Bridge from 5:30am to 8am on Thursday.

Nazmul Alam, 25, was killed when a truck hit his pick-up truck from behind near pillar 13 of the bridge at 5:30am.

In another incident, an unidentified man was killed in bus-truck collision near pillar 19 of the bridge.

Bangabandhu Bridge East police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Aiyubur Rahman said: "Injured were taken to Sirajganj and Tangail General Hospital."

In Nagorpur, two pedestrians were killed and one injured when a local engine-run three wheeler hit them on the Nagorpur-Mirzapur road near Dakkhinghagra area on Thursday morning.

Nagorpur police station OC Alam Chad confirmed.

In Madaripur, a pedestrian was killed when a bus hit him from behind on the Dhaka-Khulna highway near Pacchor area of Shibchar upazila on Thursday.

The deceased was Kawsar Bepari, 26.

Shibchar highway police station Inspector Ohiduzzaman confirmed.

In Gopalganj, a man was killed in a motorcycle accident near Bashbaria union of Muksudpur Sadar on Wednesday night.

The deceased was Suman Debnath, 23.

Muksudpur police station OC (Investigation) Abdullah Al Mamun said: "Suman fell in the pond after the accident. His body was recovered from the pond by the members of police and fire service."

In Chittagong, two people were killed and another was injured when a goods-laden trolley plunged into a roadside ditch on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway at Chunti Banpukur in Lohagara upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased were Abdul Hakim, 48, and Mohammad Ismail, 40, reports UNB.

Dohazari police station OC Yeasin Arafat confirmed.
