Seven people, including five of a family, were killed in Rajshahi and five others in Netrakona
At least 21 people were killed in separate road accidents in Netrakona, Rajshahi, Bogra, Comilla, Kurigram, Manikganj, Satkhira, and Moulvibazar districts on Saturday.
In Netrakona, five people were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus, carrying picnickers, and a truck in Durgapur upazila on Saturday night.
The accident took place on Shyamganj-Birishiri road in Shantipur area around 9pm.
Netrakona Superintendent of Police (SP) Akbar Ali Munshi confirmed the figures of death.
Identities of the victims could not be known immediately. Police said they hailed from Gouripur upazila in Mymensingh.
In Rajshahi, seven people, including five of a family, were killed and two others injured after a car hit a roadside tree in Kadirpur area of Godagari upazila around 12pm on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Musabber Akkas Ali, 40, his wife Hasnara, 35, their offspring four-month-old Adib Al Hasan, Mushfera, 8, sister-in-law Asia, 30, Akkas' friend Mahbubur Rahman, 35, and his niece Atia, 9.
Godagari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khairul Islam said: "A car, carrying these people, was heading to Godagari to attend a wedding ceremony. At one point, the driver lost control over the steering and hit a roadside tree in Kadirpur area, leaving three people dead on the spot and injuring six others."
The injured were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) where on-duty doctors declared three of them dead, he added.
Atia died later at the hospital while undergoing treatment, RMCH police outpost in-charge Rafiqul Islam said.
In Bogra, a man was killed as an unknown vehicle hit his motorcycle and ran over him on Bogra-Natore highway in Shajahanpur upazila on Saturday night.
The victim was Abu Sayeed Sweet, 45, a resident of Korenjapara village in Kahalu upazila of the district. He was a newspaper hawker by profession.
Kundarhat highway police outpost Inspector Yamin Uddowla said the accident took place in Boyradighi area around 7:30pm.
Sayeed died on the spot, he added.
In Comilla, three bus passengers were killed, and 15 others injured, as a picnic bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Zinglatoli in Daudkandi upazila on Saturday morning.
The victims were identified as Ramjan, Shafiqul, and Shahin Mollah.
Confirming the matter, Sergeant Alamgir Hossain of Daudkandi Highway Police Station said: "The accident took place around 7am when a Dhaka-bound Khadiza VIP Paribahan bus coming from Chittagong skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch, leaving the three dead on the spot and 15 others injured."
The injured were being treated at a local hospital, the police official added.
In Kurigram, a man was killed after his motorcycle hit a roadside tree in Uttar Beparihat Banshertol area in Nageswari upazila around 10am on Saturday.
The deceased, Mamunur Rashid Sarkar, 23, lived in Uttar Bakshir Khamar area of the upazila.
Nageswari police station OC Rowshan Kabir said that Mamunur died on the spot when his motorcycle hit a roadside tree while trying to give room to an auto-rickshaw in the area.
In Manikganj, a motorcycle rider died after being hit from the rear by a bus on the Dhaka-Aricha highway around 10:30am on Saturday.
The deceased Masud Rana, 35, was a resident of Karchabadha village in Sadar upazila, according to Basudeb Sinha, in-charge of Borangoil police outpost.
In Satkhira, two people were killed in separate road accidents in Tala and Sadar upazilas on Saturday.
Ganesh Das was killed after being run over by a brick-laden trolley in Bailey Bridge area of Tala upazila, confirmed, Tala police station OC Mehedi Rasel.
In another incident, Golap Sardar was killed after he was run over by a Khulna-bound bus near SP Bungalow in the city on Saturday, said Sadar police station OC Mostafizur Rahman.
In Moulvibazar, 30-year-old Saifur Rahman was killed when his motorcycle was run over by another vehicle near Halichara Tea State area in Kulaura upazila around 9am on Saturday.
Kulaura police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Akhtaruzzama confirmed the news of the accident.
