The goalkeeper of the Bangladesh National Handball team and his friend were killed in a head-on-collision between a shallow-run three-wheeler and a motorcycle in Kushtia.
The incident took place at Hosenabad area of Daulatpur upazila in the district around 11am on Friday.
The deceased Sohanur Rahman Sohan, goalkeeper of the National Handball team, and his friend Solaiman Hossain Joy were from Bahirmadi village of the upazila.
Sohan and his friend Joy were heading to Daulatpur from his home on a motorcycle.
When the duo reached Hosenabad Bazar, a shallow-run three-wheeler hit their motorcycle, leaving them critically injured.
They were rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where Joy succumbed to his injuries
Sohan was referred to Dhaka for better treatment and died on the way, said Dr Taposh Kumar Pal, residential medical officer of the hospital.
