Flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport were disrupted on Sunday for about 12 hours due to dense fog

Worker killed in Thakurgaon boiler explosion: A worker was killed and nine others were injured in a boiler explosion at a rice mill in Rajagaon village of Sadar upazila on Sunday. The deceased, Solaiman Ali, 40 was from the village. The injured are under treatment at Sadar Modern Hospital. Sadar police station OC Golam Mortoza said: "We investigating whether there was any fault in the boiler."

Woman found dead in Rangpur: Police recovered the body of a woman in a sack from a canal at Mominpur village of Sadar upazila on Sunday. The identity of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately. Kotwali police station OC Jahidul Islam said: "A piece of paper was found with the body with the name Umaiya Akhter Rumi and Fulbari Government College of Dinajpur. We are investigating the matter."

Dense fog disrupts flight operation in Ctg airport: Flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport were disrupted on Sunday for about 12 hours due to dense fog. Some international flights were delayed and diverted from Shah Amanat International Airport to Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka during the  disruption. Shah Amanat International Airport manager Wing Commander ABM Sarwar-E-Zaman said that the disruption began around 9am and flight operation returned to normalcy at 10am on Sunday.

Four jailed for life in Kushtia: A Kushtia court on Sunday sentenced four people to life-term imprisonment for killing a college student in 2016. The convicts are Rakibul Islam Rakib, Sujon, Shariar  and Piyash. Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Munshi Md Moshiur Rahman delivered the verdict in the presence of the convicts. The four convicts killed one Palash, a student of Kushtia Government College, on September 18 in 2016.

50 shanties, warehouses gutted in Naryanganj fire: At least, 50 shanties and scrap warehouse were gutted in a fire that broke out in a slum at Isdair area of Fatullah on Sunday. Narayanganj Civil Defence and Fire Service Station Deputy Director Abdullah Al Arefin said:"10 fire service units were needed to douse the fire.  The cause of the fire and extent of the damaged could not be confirmed immediately."

RMG workers withdraw road blockade in Savar: RMG workers, who blocked Dhaka-Mirpur regional road at Burulia, demanding arrears withdrew it after three and a half hours on Sunday. The workers of Sark Knitwear Limited garments said they blockaded the road as the authorities hung a notice of factory closure for indefinite time without clearing their dues. Savar Model police station OC Zakaria Hossain said: "Workers withdrew the blockade as the authorities agreed to hold a meeting in this regard on Monday."

Pvt company chief jailed over money swindling: A Rangpur court sentenced a man –accused in money swindling case–to three years in prison on Sunday. The convict Abdul Mannan Talukdar, was also fined Tk44 crore, sources confirmed. According to the case details, he is the head of a private company named New Bashundhara Real Estate Limited in Bagerhat, that failed to pay around Tk22 crore as a pay agreement to another company. Abdul Mannan illegally expanded his business through the investments of thousands of customers.

Three drug dealers held in Narayanagnj: Rapid Action Battalion(RAB) detained three drug dealers with 470 bottles of Phensedyl on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sonargaon upazila on Sunday. The detainees are Jahirul Alom, Jamal Hossain and Akash. RAB-11 Additional Superitendent of Police Md Jashim Uddin Chowdury said:   The trio were detained while transporting the contrabands from Chittagong to Dhaka on a covered van . They will be handed over to Sonargaon police station."
