A man and his wife tortured a woman, reportedly accusing the victim of having an extramarital affair with the man, that hampered the husband-wife relationship.
The woman said she was brought to the couple's home in college-para of Brahmanbaria town around 8pm on Saturday. She was tortured there for two hours, until locals heard her scream and informed the police.
Police arrested the accused Foisal, who has 14 cases filed against him–including charges of murder and robbery– with different police stations, said Brahmanbaria Sadar Model police station OC Md Selim Uddin.
"A case will be filed regarding the matter. However, we couldn't arrest Foisal's wife Fouzia Akhter, as she has to take care of three children including an infant," added OC Selim.
The victim said: "We (the woman and Foisal) stayed in touch as we had known each other for some time. Foisal asked me to visit his home and tortured me with his wife's assistance while I was there. They said I was the one responsible for taking away happiness from their family. They heated a spatula and burnt different parts of my body; my hair was cut short. I lost consciousness due to pain at one point."
