Once the training was complete, they were brought to Jessore to be given their assignments
Breaking the cycle of taking bribes from police officers to transfer them to their desired locations, Jessore Police Superintendent Md Ashraf Hossain assigned 34 sub-inspectors to police stations, outposts and different units through a lottery held in his office on Wednesday.
Of the total 34, half of them recently completed a two-year training as PSI and the other half underwent a year’s training as ASI in Tangail.
Once the training was complete, they were brought to Jessore to be given their assignments.
Md. Towhidul Islam, Jessore police spokesperson and Additional Police Superintendent, said: "Many complaints arise during placements. To ensure transparency 34 sub-inspectors appointed as permanent officers were assigned locations through a lottery system."
However, he did not disclose the names of the officers.
