Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained two suspected smugglers,who were found with 30 gold bars worth Tk2.17 crore in Benapole.
Benapole ICP camp BGB members detained the duo from Boro Achra Terminal intersection near Benapole Bazar around 10am on Saturday.
The detainees are Iqbal Hossain, 30, and Rony Hossain, 28; both are residents of Boro Achra village.
BGB 49 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Colonel Selim Reza confirmed the news to Dhaka Tribune.
Benapole Sadar BGB Camp Commander Subedar Lal Miah said, acting on a tip-off that a large consignment of gold bars is going to be smuggled to India, a BGB team conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo along with the gold bars weighing around 3.5kg bars.
