Four drug dealers, including two women, were detained along with 101,800 yaba pills in separate drives in three districts
In Habiganj, Detective Branch (DB) of Police, in a drive, detained two alleged female drug dealers with 61,000 yaba pills from Notun Bridge area of Shayestaganj upazila on Wednesday.
The arrested, Shahina Akhtar, 40 is from Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat district, and Nahida Akhtar, 33 is from Lakshmipur Gabtoli area of Madaripur district.
Habiganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammed Ullah disclosed the information in a press briefing at his office around 10 pm on Thursday.
"On a tip-off, DB raided a bus and detained the drug dealers with the contrabands and a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act," he said
The SP further stated that the duo confessed to their offence before the court of Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Sultan Uddin on Thursday evening.
In Cox's Bazar, police detained a microbus driver along with 35,000 yaba pills on Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive near Shamlapur bridge area in Teknaf on Thursday.
The arrested is Ayub Ali, 35.
Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge Pradeep Kumar Das said: "Ayub along with another drug dealer was transporting the yaba pills from Teknaf to Cox's Bazar by a microbus. We conducted a drive and detained Ayub with the contraband, hidden under the seat of the microbus."
However, Ayub's associate managed to flee the scene and a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act, the OC added.
In Comilla, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a drug dealer with 5,800 yaba pills from Thomsom bridge area in the city yesterday.
The arrested Md Liton, 34 is from Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola district.
RAB-11 CPC-2 Deputy Director Talukdar Nazmuz Sakib confirmed the matter.
