Information related to the fake questions was found after analysing the mobile phones
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested five people in separate incidents for attempting to distribute fake SSC question papers and for spreading rumours.
They were arrested from Dhaka’s Rampura, Hazaribagh, Gazipur, and Khulna on Saturday and Sunday.
The arrested are Al Mahmud, 18, from Rampura; Masum Khalashi, 16, from Hazaribagh’s Modhubazar area; Abu Bakkar Siddique, 25, from Gazipur; Shakil Mahmud, 20, and Saymon Islam, 25, from Khulna.
Confirming the matter, RAB-1 Assistant Director Md Kamruzzaman said they have been monitoring cyberspace for some time. They observed several online groups promising to provide fake SSC exam papers for money and spreading rumours that they can also change the results of the examination.
Acting on a tipoff, separate RAB teams conducted raids in Rampura, Hazaribagh, Gazipur, and Khulna, and arrested five. Several mobile phones were also recovered during the raids.
Information related to the fake questions was found after analysing the mobile phones.
Among the arrested, Siddique is a third year student at the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS). The others arrested are also students at different institutes, according to RAB’s Kamruzzaman.
"Legal action will be taken against them," he added.
