Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have rescued 13 Rohingya women from a human trafficking ring, from Dhaka’s Aftabnagar area.

Confirming the matter, RAB 3 Operation Officer ABM Faijul Islam said two members of the trafficking ring were also arrested during a raid at a house on Road No 40 in Aftabnagar on Sunday.

He also said, acting on a tip-off, a RAB 3 team raided the house and rescued Rohingya women, who were gathered there by ring members for trafficking them to Dubai and Malaysia.

The arrestees are Kabir Ahmed, 40 and Md Imran, 28, both hailing from Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar.

“The two other members of human trafficking ring managed to escape the spot. RAB team found a huge cache of fake Bangladeshi passports, fake birth certificate, among others during the raid,” he added.
