In Barguna, three members of the same family were killed on the spot and four others injured
At least eight people were killed in separate road accidents in Barguna, Kushtia, Sunamganj, and Bogra on Saturday.
In Barguna, three members of the same family were killed on the spot and four others injured when a bus bound for Kuakata hit a microbus and two auto rickshaws after losing control on the Patuakhali-Kuakata Highway in the Chowrastha area of Amtoli upazila in the morning.
The deceased were Nupur, 25, Nupur's son, Hasin, 10, and her niece Lamia, 14.
Nupur's youngest daughter, Momota, 6, Shahabuddin, 56, and Jabbar, 40, were injured.
Amtoli police station OC Abul Bashar said: "The victims’ bodies have been taken to the Barguna district hospital morgue. We have seized the bus but its driver managed to flee. A case will be filed in this connection."
In Kushtia, two men were killed in two separate accidents on Saturday.
In Dobir Molla Gate area of Kushtia city, a man was killed when a three-wheeler tractor hit him on the Kushtia-Rajbari Highway in the morning.
The deceased identified as Yusuf Ali Sheikh, 80, died on the spot.
Kumarkhali police station OC Jahangir Alam said: "Locals have apprehended the driver of the tractor and handed him over to the police."
In a separate incident near Mirpur Talbaria area, a motorcyclist was killed when a bus hit the motorcycle on the Kushtia-Ishwardi Highway on Saturday at 1pm.
The deceased was identified as Rajib Mollik, 23, died on the spot.
Talbaria police station Sub Inspector, Manobendro Bishwas, said: "The body has been taken to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy."
In Sunamganj, two men were killed when a pickup truck hit their motorcycle on the Derai-Madanpur road near Sujanagar in Derai upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased Abdul Momin, 28, Taresh Das, 30, were killed on the spot.
Derai police station OC AKM Najrul Islam confirmed the matter.
In Bogra, a motorcyclist was run over by a bus and killed on the Bogra-Naogaon Highway in Kahaloo upazila.
The deceased identified as Abdur Rahman, 52, was run over when he fell from his vehicle after being rear-ended by the bus.
David Himadri Barma, second officer of Kahaloo police station, said they were trying to locate the bus.
