As per the final report, none except the deceased Palash Ahmed was found to be involved in the case
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) submitted the final report in the case filed with the city’s Patenga police station over the attempt of hijacking a plane of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Inspector Rajesh Barua, investigation officer (IO) of the case submitted the final report to the prosecution branch of the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate's Court Thursday afternoon, after nearly 11 months of investigation.
As per the final report, none except the deceased Palash Ahmed was found to be involved in the case.
“The final report was submitted to the court since the accused died following the plane hijacking attempt,” said the IO.
The IO of the case submitted the final report after recording depositions of 79 witnesses including plane passengers, pilot, cabin crew, relatives, siblings, parents, friends of the deceased, and members of the law enforcing agencies who took part in the operation.
On February 24, a young man named Palash Ahmed used a toy gun to try and hijack a Dubai-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight that originated from Dhaka via Chittagong.
The aircraft landed in Chittagong and the passengers and the crew were released without any incident. The suspected hijacker was killed when security forces raided the plane.
