Bangladeshi man drowns, chased by BSF in Kurigram

The incident occurred in the Datbhanga border of the Datbhanga Union in the Roumari subdistrict of Kurigram

A man drowned after falling into a river while being chased by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Kurigram early on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the Datbhanga border of the Datbhanga Union in the Roumari subdistrict of Kurigram.

The deceased is Khaibor, 42, was a cow trader.

Locals said a group of 10 to 12 cattle traders went to Dhantbhanga border area at about 3am to bring cattle. When the group saw a BGB patrol team, they hid separately in different places. But, Khaibar unintentionally entered the Indian territory.

As the BSF members saw him, they started chasing Khaibar. The cattle trader run away and jumped off a bridge into the Jinjiram River. Since then, he is missing.

Later, the BGB members recovered the body from the river this afternoon. 

BGB 35 commanding officer Lt Col SK Azad confirmed the matter.
