Four others injured
At least nine people, including six teenagers, were killed in road accidents in Rajbari, Jhenaidah, Nilphamari, Chittagong and Gazipur on Sunday and Saturday.
In Rajbari, five people were killed and two others were injured when a bus collided with a human hauler in Khankhanapur Chotobridge area in Rajbari Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Rashida Begum, 40, her daughter Taslima Akter, 14, of Ahladipur village of the upazila, Mostofa Sheikh, 40, of Goalanda upazila, Imran Hossain Rifat, 16, of Faridpur, and another unidentified youth.
All of the deceased were passengers of the human hauler, said Ahladipur Highway police station OC Masud Parvez.
The Dhaka bound bus of Greenline Paribahan hit the Goalanda-bound human hauler at 3:30 pm, killing five people, including two women, on the spot, he said.
Police seized the bus and are conducting drives to detain the bus driver who managed to escape, the OC added.
In Jhenaidah, a motorcyclist was killed when his vehicle collided head-on with a microbus in Gilabaria area of Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased is Ujjal Hossain Malitha, 30, son of Ashir Uddin Mohuri, a resident of Shakharidah village in Harinakundu upazila.
Ujjal died under treatment at the Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, said Jhenaidah Sadar police station OC Moin Uddin.
In Nilphamari, another teenager was killed when hit by a three-wheeler near Nilphamari cattle market of Itakhola union in Sadar upazila at 1:30pm on Sunday.
The deceased Morsalin Hasib, 13, was the son of Abdur Rajjak Badshah of Singdah village, confirmed Nilphamari Sadar police station OC Mominul Islam.
"The vehicle loaded with cows hit Mursalin while he was on his way to school, and killed him on the spot. Two cattle traders were severely injured as the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch after the accident, said OC Mominul.
The injured are under treatment at the Rangpur Medical College Hospital, he added.
In Chittagong, Two motorcyclists were killed when their vehicle collided with a microbus near Mostafizur Rahman Degree College under Lohagara upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased is Uttam Barua, 16 and Bishal Barua, 15, confirmed Lohagara police station Sub-Inspector Ajay Deb.
In Gazipur, a teenage madrasa student was killed as his head was smashed between two buses at the Tongi Government College gate area on Saturday night.
The deceased Mazharul Islam, 16, was a student of a madrasa in Gazipur city and was a son of Abdur Rahim, a resident of Biljura village in Purbadhala upazila of Netrokona.
"Mazharul was on his way on a Anabil Paribahan bus to participate at the Akheri Munajat of Ijtema. Feeling nauseated, he stuck his head outside the bus window and began vomiting. Another bus of the same company tried to overtake the former vehicle and smashed the boy's head in the process," said Tongi East police station Sub-Inspector Abul Kashem.
Police seized the buses and detained a bus driver, identified as Aynal, 32.
