Meanwhile, a press release signed by Niron Chakma, the UPDF(Prasit Group) publicity cell secretary, alleged that plain clothes law enforcement agencies and terrorists affiliated with them were responsible for the killing.

The group has called for boycotting Haat Bazar (markets) in Moratloli area of Panchhari upazila on Sunday and a half-day road blockade will be observed on Monday in the upazila, the press release also reads.

According to reports published earlier, last year in Khagrachhari alone, at least nine leaders and activists from different ethnic community-based political parties were killed in gunfights with rival groups and law enforment.

They include three from Jana Samhati Samity (MN Larma), five from UPDF (Prasit Group), and one from UPDF Ganatantrik.
