A giant Bagha Ayer, weighing around 40kg, was netted from the Padma river in Natore's Lalpur upazila yesterday, turning the heads of many locals.
A fisherman, named Lalon caught the fish in the morning at Patharghata area of the upazila, which was later sold for Tk 40,000.
Lalpur Upazila Fisheries Officer Abu Sama said: " Lalon went to the Padma river to catch fish on Sunday morning. At one point, he netted the Bagha Ayer weighing around 40 kg. Later, he brought the fish to the riverbank with the help of other fishermen."
He further stated that a local fish trader of Lalpur Bazar named Saidur first bought the fish for Tk 37,000 from Lalon. Afterwards, he sold it to a customer named Mozammel for Tk 40,000.
