Sixteen people have been injured in the accidents
Six people have been killed and 16 others injured in separate road accidents in Lakshmipur and Cox's Bazar districts.
In Lakshmipur, three workers were killed and 15 others injured as a pickup truck carrying them fell into a roadside ditch on Thursday morning.
The accident took place in Muktiganj area under Lakshmipur Municipality around 9am.
The deceased are Rafique, Mofiz, and Khorshed, residents of Abir Nagar area in the district's Sadar upazila.
Locals said the pickup truck skidded off the road and fell into the ditch as its driver lost control over the vehicle.
Local people immediately started to rescue the victims while members of Fire Service and Civil Defence joined the work later.
"Three people died on the spot," Anwar Hossain, resident medical officer (RMO) of Lakshmipur General Hospital, confirmed.
Among the injured, eight have been admitted to the Lakshmipur General Hospital.
Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizur Rahman said: "Police seized the vehicle while its driver Liton is on the run. We are trying to arrest him."
In Cox’s Bazar, three more people were killed and another injured as a Shyamoli Paribahan bus hit a car in Ramu upazila on Wednesday night.
The accident took place on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in Jowarianala around 10pm.
Two of them died on spot while another was declared dead at Cox's Bazar General Hospital.
The deceased are Jan-e Alam, 35, Masud Kibria, 40, and Jamal Uddin, 35, all residents of Chittagong city.
Ramu police station OC Md Abul Khayer confirmed the matter.
"The bus driver fled the scene after the accident. We seized the bus," he added.
