Woman raped, murdered in Savar

Two persons arrested for rape and attempted rape in two other districts

Police have recovered the partially decomposed body of a woman in Savar. 

She is presumed to have been raped before being murdered.

The body of the unidentified victim, aged about 35 years, was recovered from Jamsing area of Savar municipality around 11am on Saturday, according to Savar Model police station Sub-Inspector Alamgir Hossain.

He said: "From the foul smell, nearby residents located the sack containing the body and informed police. After recovering the body, we found the deceased woman’s hands and feet to be bound. The body had injury marks in several places.

"The body of the deceased was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy and a murder case will be filed regarding the incident."

2 arrested for rape, attempt to rape 

Police on Saturday arrested two men accused in cases filed in connection with gang-rape and attempt to rape in Narail and Narayanganj respectively.

Rape suspect Mursalin Mridaha, 19, was arrested in a case filed over the gang-rape of a thirteen-year-old girl in Lohagara upazila of Narail.

Lohagara police station OC (Investigation) Amanullah Al Bari said: “Mursalin has been put behind bars, while his accomplices Nasir Sheikh, 20, Enamul Molla, 22, Rasel Khan, 19 are currently on the run.”

According to the case filed by the girl's uncle, the girl had a relationship with Mursalin. On Tuesday, he took her to an isolated place and gang-raped her with three others. Locals recovered the girl, who was in an unconscious state and had serious injuries, the following day.

Resident Medical Officer Dr Moshiur Rahman said: "We have found evidence of rape. We can provide more details after finalizing the report."

Meanwhile in Narayanganj, police on Saturday arrested a man accused in a case filed over an attempt to rape his physically challenged relative in Sonargaon upazila.

The arrested man, Iqbal Hossain, is the woman’s brother-in law, confirmed Sonargaon police station OC Md Moniruzzaman.
