Following a Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB)and Border Security Force (BSF) battalion commander level flag meeting, BSF took back the dead body of a mentally challenged Indian national they (BSF) beat to death at Haripur border of Thakurgaon.
At 9:30pm Sunday BSF took the body after Dinajpur BGB 42 recovered the body on Saturday 11pm from Minapur border outpost (Bop), informed BGB 42 commander Colonel Gazi Nahiduzzaman.
The BGB commented on the matter saying the deceased was a mentally challenged Indian national who spent most of his time sitting under a tree. BSF took him for a Bangladeshi and beat him to death.
Colonel Gazi Nahiduzzaman said: “Locals informed BGB of the incident after they located a dead body in no man’s land near main pillar number 353, between Minapur Bop under BGB 42 and Sonargaon Camp under BSF 146. The Minapur BGB Bop recovered the body with the help of police.”
Even after discussing the matter with BSF a number of times they made no effort to claim the dead body. Finally when BGB Dinajpur Sector Commander Colonel Md Sohrab Hossain Bhuiyan personally made a phone call to Kishanganj sector staff officer Commandant Goraz regarding the matter, BSF took the body at 9:30pm, Sunday.
