Burglaries at two bank branches and an ATM booth in the district in a span of only eight months have created panic among bank authorities and clients.
Burglars have walked off with a total of Tk20.33 lakh from the two bank branches and ATM booth in the last eight months, sources said.
Although cases have been filed for the incidents, law enforcement has failed to arrest anyone or recover the stolen money.
On December 3, robbers entered the Miabazar branch of Krishi Bank Ltd in Chauddagram upazila, cutting the window grilles and breaking open the locks at night, and lootin Tk11.15 lakh.
Branch Manager Sakib Salehin filed a case with Chauddagram police station in this regard, but there has been no breakthrough in the investigation.

The surveillance camera showed a man opening the booth machine with the help of a sophisticated device and taking the cash.
Four days after the incident, Branch Manager Mainul Islam filed a case with Kotwali model police station, but police are yet to make any arrest.
In another incident, burglars entered Krishi Bank’s Dhamti union branch in Debidwar upazila cutting its window grilles and taking away Tk5.88 lakh on May 29.
Branch Manager Sheikh Mahbub Hossain said he filed a case with Debidwar Police Station but law enforcement could neither recover the stolen money nor arrest the miscreants.
Comilla Additional Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Mamun said: "We are investigating the bank burglaries. We are hoping to find success soon. There wasn't any surveillance camera in the Miabazar branch. Bank authorities need to be more careful to prevent such burglaries in the future."
