BNP supporters brought out a celebratory procession, marking the Victory Day
Police have arrested seven BNP leaders in Narayanganj over alleged obstruction of police duty and sabotage.
Four of them were held on Monday during an event at the city, while the other three in the early hours of Tuesday, confirmed Sadar model police station OC Md Asaduzzaman.
Six of the arrestees were identified as BNP’s district unit General Secretary Mamum Mahmud, city unit General Secretary ATM Kamal, Ward No 17 unit President Md Hossain Kajal, and Jatiyatabadi Swechhasebak Dal leaders Rakib, Kamrul and Mamun.
They were arrested in a case filed by Sub-Inspector (SI) Saiful Islam Monday night with Sadar police, where 19 people were named and 200 others unnamed, said OC Asaduzzaman.

When police obstructed it to maintain order on the road, BNP supporters assaulted two police officers, including Sadar police Inspector Joynal Abedin and SI Saiful, said the OC.
Four people, including Rakib, Kamrul and Mamun, were arrested at the time. The other three were arrested later from their homes at Sonargaon, Siddhirganj and Paikpara areas, after the case was lodged.
OC Asaduzzaman also said they were working to arrest the other accused.
