A madrasa teacher has been sentenced to one-month imprisonment by a mobile court for sexually harassing a female student of Chittagong University.

Md Jamal Uddin, a teacher of Baitun Mamun Madrasa, sexually harassed a female student of CU while she was going to the campus Saturday afternoon, said Samrat Khisha, executive magistrate, also assistant commissioner (Land) of Hathazari Upazila.

According to the victim, a man boarded the bus she was on, and sat beside her.

A few minutes, he started making unwanted physical advances.

“As I sought help, the other passengers caught him and handed him over to Hathazari police station,” she added.

This is the third instance of sexual harassment towards a female CU student on a running bus.
