Update : 09 Dec 2019, 11:40 AM

The temperature of Panchagarh district has dropped to 8°C on Sunday, hinting at a rough winter ahead.

Locals said it begins to warm up after sunrise but gets increasingly cold after 3pm.

Met office recorded 10°C on Friday and 9°C on Saturday as fog disrupted transportation and movement of people, reports UNB.

Patients suffering from various cold-related diseases have already started visiting local hospitals and clinics. Doctors say they are expecting more patients.

Panchagarh Sadar Hospital Resident Medical Officer Dr Md Sirajuddaoula Polin said most of the patients suffering from diarrhoea and pneumonia were being admitted to the hospital.

“We are struggling to provide services as we do not have medicine and child specialist here,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yasmin said they have already sent 28,000 warm clothes to five upazilas.

“We have sought more allocation for winter clothes this year,” she added.
