The Rapid Action Battalion on Sunday arrested two men in connection with the Banaripara triple murder case in the Saliabakpur area of Barisal.
The detained are two con-artists, Zakir Hossain and his associate Jewel Haoladar who manipulated and robbed villagers by false witchcraft practices. .
Police say the two men claimed themselves as Ojha's and promised the family to reveal the location of their mobile phone which was stolen a few days earlier.
While doing so, the con-artists closely inspected the house.
On Saturday morning they had entered the house, robbed valuables, and killed three people when they were interrupted.
Banaripara police station OC Shishir Kumar Pal, said: "In a joint drive of RAB and police, we detained the two with the stolen ornaments and valuables.
They were presented before the court and sent to jail."
"We will ask the court to issue remand order to investigate the incident properly for the next hearing," he added.
Earlier, on Saturday police recovered three dead bodies identified as Mariam Begum, 70, her son-in-law Shafikul Alam, 60, a retired teacher and her grandson Yusuf, 22, from their Banaripara house.
It created a nationwide interest as the three people were killed in the presence of other two family members, who were sleeping and did not notice the massacre happening in their presence. It is still unclear whether any sedatives were induced by the accused to make the family unconscious during the incident.
