BSF guns down Bangladeshi youth at Sylhet border

He died on the spot after being shot by BSF

The body of a Bangladeshi youth, shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Kanaighat area on Thursday evening, was recovered on Friday afternoon. 

The deceased was identified as, Salman Ahmed, 18, is the son of Abulur Rahman of Sonarkheor village. 

Sources said Salman and some Bangladeshis were moving around Patichhara area adjacent to Dona border of Kanaighat around 4:30pm. He died on the spot after being shot by BSF. 

Lt Col Rafiqul Islam, Commanding Officer of BGB 41, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune. 

A company commander level flag meeting has been called on Saturday. BGB officials also informed that it will send a protest note to their Indian counterpart. 

Shamsuddoha, Officer-in-Charge of Kanaighat police station, said the body will be sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College morgue on Saturday for autopsy. 

Later, it will be handed over to family members, the police official added.
