Minister: Every district to get kidney dialysis unit

The minister says 20,000 people will be recruited immediately in the health sector

The government will install 10-bed kidney dialysis unit in every district, allowing patients to receive treatment without travelling to other parts of the country, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said.

At the same time, 20,000 people will be recruited immediately in the health sector, he said, adding that 4,500 doctors will be hired on December 8.

The minister was speaking at a reception organized by Manikganj district unit of Bangladesh Health Assistant Association at Gorpara of Sadar upazila on Friday, reports UNB.

Mentioning that the government is doing a lot for the health sector, he said child mortality rate has come down. 

Besides, lives of at least 100,000 people are being saved every year thanks to various developments in health sector, including the success of Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), he said.

Later, the minister laid the foundation stone of a bridge at Betila Bazar Kheyaghat in Sadar upazila which is being constructed at a cost of Tk3.25 crore. 

He also opened the extension of the three-storied building of Betila School and College which cost Tk78 lakh.
