Although a suicide note was found in his room, it was not made public
A student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science & Technology University (BSMRSTU) committed suicide early yesterday.
The victim, Abdullah Al Noman, 21, was enrolled in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department (BMB) at BSMRSTU.
Although a suicide note was found in his room, it was not made public.
Wishing to remain anonymous, one of Noman's roommates said: "In his suicide note, Noman wrote he committed suicide as he could not tolerate his sickness and no one was responsible for his death.
"Noman asked his mother to forgive him and told her to look after his younger sister. He also asked his friends to send his clothes home and sell the other belongings," he added.
Noman's friends suspect depression to be the main cause behind his suicide as he often took antidepressants.
The university campus was overwhelmed with sorrow hearing the news of their fellow student's death.
Md Lutful Kabir, chairman of BMB department, said he knew Noman to be a very polite person and was shocked to learn about the suicide of such a brilliant student.
Police and university administration recovered the body and the incident is being investigated.
