Two bus staffers attacked the victim, and tried to put off her hijab

A female student of Chittagong University was allegedly sexually harassed on a running bus by two of its staffers in Chittagong on Wednesday evening.

Later, the victim narrated the incident on her Facebook wall, which drew reactions among netizens and the fellow students of the university.

The victim was returning from her sister's house at Patiya upazila to the port city's No 2 gate area by a bus of Shohagh Paribahan.

When the bus reached Bahoddarhat area, all the passengers got down from the vehicle, she wrote.

As soon as the victim student found herself alone in the bus, she wanted to get down from it, but the two staffers assured her that they would drop her to the destination.

After some moments, the duo tried to put off her hijab to have a look on her face, she wrote, adding that they took away her mobile phone.

When the local journalists came to know about the incident, they contacted her.

The victim said: "When I had started screaming for self-defence, the bus driver asked them to release me, and they allowed me to get down from the bus."

"It was a horrific experience as I came back from death... I want justice," she added.

When contacted, CU Proctor SM Monirul Islam told Dhaka Tribune:"We have discussed the matter with our officials, and will take necessary steps after talking to the victim."

Chandgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Azad said:"We have been informed about the incident by the journalists."

Necessary steps will be taken after discussion with the victim, he added.
