At least 30 people, including police members, were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Awami League in Lalmonirhat.
The clash took place during the triennial council of Sreerampur union Awami League unit in Patgram Upazila around 2.30 pm on Monday.
Police fired 50 rounds of shotgun bullets, and three rounds of tear shell canisters, and charged baton in order to bring the chaotic situation under control.
Confirming the matter, Sumon Kumar Mohonto, officer-in-charge of Patgram police station said: ''The clash ensued between two rival groups supporting Abul Hashem and Rafiqul Islam.
They were both aspirants for the post of president in the triennial conference of Sreerampur union Awami League unit.''
''Injured are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals, and clinics including Rangpur Medical College Hospital.'' the OC added.
