Suspected robber beaten to death in Lakshmipur

Police recovered two light guns, six cartridges, and some sharp weapons from the spot

A suspected robber was killed while five of his associates were injured in a lynch-mob attack in Lakshmipur.

The incident occurred in Sagardi village of Raipur upazila early on Friday.

The deceased identified as Sohel, died undergoing treatment at a local hospital; while police recovered various weapons from the spot, following the incident.

Raipur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tota Miya said: "A gang of robbers swooped on one Jabbar Ali Bepari’s house on Friday night and held every house member hostage. Hearing their screams, neighbours surrounded the house and caught six of the robbers.

"They gave them a good beating and left the six robbers injured. The injured were identified as Kawsar, Momin, Miraz, Sumon, and Ibrahim.”

Upon receiving information, police went to the spot and took the injured to local a hospital where Sohel succumbed to his injuries, the OC added.

Two light guns, six cartridges, and some sharp weapons were also recovered from the spot.
