Snake charmers displayed Jhapan Khela with various kinds of venomous and non venomous snakes and impressed audiences


Nabanna Utsab, the Bengali festival of harvesting new crops, was observed in Nehalpur village of Chuadanga Sadar upazila with traditional gusto and cultural amusements on Tuesday. 

Every year farmers of the country start harvesting new crops in the Bengali month of Agrahayan.

 Among other programs and displays of rice processing, the district administration organized Lathi Khela, Jhapan Khela, and Pitha Utshob for a festive Nabanna.

The lathials (stick fighters) in their colourful attire enthusiastically entertained the crowd with rhythmic sparring to drum beats. 

Snake charmers displayed Jhapan Khela with various kinds of venomous and non venomous snakes and impressed audiences.

Local women made around a hundred varieties of Pitha (rice cakes) to sell at the Pitha Utshob corner in the festival and to distribute among guests.

Among others, MP Ali Azgar Tagar of Chuadanga 2, Deputy Commissioner of the district, Nazrul Islam Sarkar, and Superintendent of Police Zahidul Islam, appreciated the festival programs, participating in a rally and discussion.
