Ten days ago Kawsar apologized for his actions in a local arbitration and pledged to never harass her again
A schoolgirl committed suicide at Kolkutipara village in Kishorganj Upazila because of the harassments and threats she received from one local youth.
The deceased Karima Akhter Kanij, 14, was an eighth-grade student of Kishorganj Bohumukhi High School. Her body was found hanging at 11 am on Monday.
The accused Kawsar Ali, 18, is a first-year student of Putimari BM College and he has been absconding after the incident.
Kanij's father Abul Kalam said Kawsar had been harassing the girl for some time. Ten days ago Kawsar apologized for his actions in a local arbitration and pledged never to harass her again.
However, on November 16, Kawsar again harassed the girl while she was coming back home from school. After she disclosed the incident to her parents, they reported it to Kawsar's family.
Following the complaint, Kawsar reportedly assaulted Kanij's father and threatened him, by saying: "I will see how your daughter goes out of the house. I will make her my wife."
On Monday, the girl was standing by their front door, when Kawser reportedly harassed her again, which instigated her to commit suicide.
Kishorganj Sadar Union Parishad chairman Md Anisul Islam said: "I heard that Sub-Inspector Rezaul Islam previously solved the issue through an arbitration, but today (Monday) I have learned that she has committed suicide."
Kishorganj police station OC Mofizul Hoque said legal actions will be taken after an autopsy.
