Abducted 16-yr-old girl rescued after 18 days

The kidnapper, Mamun, 26, from Bashgram union, was also arrested, according to Narail’s Superintendent of Police Md Jashimuddin

Police have rescued a 16-year-old madrasa student from Jessore, 18 days after she was abducted from Bisali union of Narail. 

The kidnapper, Mamun, 26, from Bashgram union, was also arrested, according to Narail’s Superintendent of Police Md Jashimuddin.

“The girl was abducted with the intention of trafficking. We are happy that we saved her life,” he told reporters at Narail Police Lines on Sunday.

Shown arrested in a human trafficking case, Mamun was produced before a Narail court yesterday, which then sent him to jail.

Police said the victim’s family had filed a complaint in Narail Sadar police station on November 9 after girl went missing.

The eighth grader was found in a house in Jamdia union of Jessore along with the kidnapper on Saturday night. She was handed over to her family on Sunday.

The victim said she had lost consciousness after Mamun gave her some food laced with sedatives. Afterwards, she woke up inside a building.

Since then, he kept her sedated most of the time, she said. He even pretended to marry her and promised to take her to visit India.

After she managed to contact her family over phone with the help of a stranger, police rescued her from the house at Jamdia on Saturday.
