The accident left 16 people dead and scores injured
A probe committee formed following the deadly train accident at Mondabag rail station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria has submitted its report.
The four-member probe committee headed by Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) submitted the report to the Director General of Bangladesh Railway through the General Manager (East Zone) on Friday.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, DTO and head of the probe committee Md Nasir Uddin said that they submitted the report three days after formation of the committee.
“We have talked to 17 people including two stations masters, the sub-assistant engineer, the traffic inspector and running staff for preparing the probe report,” said the railway official.
Asked about the cause of the accident, the probe committee chief said that it would not be proper make any comment since the railway minister himself would formally brief the media after compiling the findings of three probe committee reports.
Nasir Uddin Ahmed, general manager of Bangladesh Railway (East Zone) told Dhaka Tribune that after receiving the probe report on Friday and they forwarded it to the Director General.
On Tuesday, Dhaka-bound Turna Nishita, coming from Chittagong, crashed into Chittagong-bound Udayan Express, coming from Sylhet, near Mondobagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria around 2:45am.
The deadly accident left 16 dead and more than 70 others were also injured in the horrific accident.
