A three-year-old girl died of dengue fever while undergoing treatment at the Khulna Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning.
The deceased Sumaiya was the daughter of Nahid Sheikh from Baragula of Narail city.
Narail Sadar Hospital Residential Medical Officer Dr. Mashiur Rahman Babu said: “The child was suffering from severe fever and rash, verging on dengue hemorrhagic. She was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital as this hospital was unable to provide her the necessary treatment.”
Around 713 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and clinics across the country.
Among them, 329 patients are taking treatment in the Dhaka division and 348 are hospitalized outside the capital, a release of Health Crisis Management and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said yesterday.
A total of 98,086 patients were admitted to the different hospitals across the country since January this year. Of them, 97,122 patients have returned home after recovery, DGHS said.
According to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), 112 people have so far died of dengue.
Around 157 new dengue patients got admitted to different hospitals in the last 24 hours across the country. Of them 58 were admitted in Dhaka and 99 out of the capital, the release added.
