16 people were killed in the accident
The loco master of Turna Nishita Express and two others have been suspended over Brahmanbaria train accident, which killed 16 people.
Railways Ministry Secretary Mofazzal Hossain confirmed the matter of Tuesday afternoon.
The other two are train’s assistant loco master and a guard of Bangladesh Railway.
However, the secretary was unable to mention the names of the suspended staff.
“The trio will remain suspended till the probe committees submit their report on the accident,” Mofazzal said.
Meanwhile, five separate probe committees were formed to investigate the train accident that occurred when two intercity trains collided head-on in Kasbaupazila of Brahmanbaria in the early hours of Tuesday.
At least 16 people were killed and over 50 injured during the accident which took place at Mondobagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila.
It was reported that the Turna Nishita ignored the outer home signal, which was emitting the red light, and hit Udayan Express while it was changing its track.
