Detective Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector Arifur Rahman, who photographed sleeping in a vehicle with bundles of money lying beside him, has been withdrawn.

“He (Arifur) was attached to the district police lines on Saturday, over the picture which went viral on different social media platforms including Facebook,” confirmed Inspector Mominul Islam of Narayanganj Special Branch on Sunday.

The photo which went viral showed that Arifur Rahman was sleeping in a vehicle with bundles of money, two mobile phones and his walkie-talkie lying on the seat.

Meanwhile, Arifur said the photo was taken four to five months ago with the money he borrowed from one of his friends for the treatment of his mother.

He said he took Tk1.20 lakh for his mother's treatment and fell asleep inside the vehicle as he was worried and nervous about his mother's health.

Arifur claimed that someone is trying to frame him to serve their personal motives.
