Update : 11 Nov 2019, 01:48 PM

Launch services on all routes in Bangladesh have resumed after a 36 hour suspension owing to the cyclonic storm Bulbul.

Services resumed Monday morning 36 hours after Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) issued a notice on Friday night halting all launch activities in the face of the impending cyclone Bulbul, said BIWTA Public Relation Officer (PRO) Mobarak Hossain Majumdar said.

He added: "Operations have resumed on 42 routes, but passenger turnout has so far been low."

Cyclone Bulbul hit the south western coastal districts of Bangladesh in the early hours of Sunday.

Leaving a trail of destruction in its wake, the storm claimed the lives of 13 people in Bangladesh, while the media reported the death of 12 in India.
