According to DGHS data, 15 were injured due to the storm
At least 13 people have died due to the impact of cyclonic storm Bulbul in Bangladesh,
However, the official estimates of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed 8 people were killed so far and at least 55 others injured.
The confirmation was announced in a statement released on Monday afternoon.
In Khulna, two people died in separate incidents after a tree fell over them during the storm in Dacope and Dighalia upazilas of the district. One person was also injured.
The deceased are Pramila Mandal, 52, a resident of the Dacope upazila, and Alamgir Hossain, 30, of Dighalia upazila.
Alamgir died on Sunday morning when a tree fell on him, as he was clearing the debris from the storm on the grounds of his house, Senhati Union Parishad Secretary Pradip Kumar Biswas confirmed to Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier in the day, Pramila died under similar circumstances.
Sheikh Abdul Quader, duty officer of a cyclone control room of Dacope Upazila Parishad, told Dhaka Tribune that Pramila took refuge at a government shelter, South Dacope Cyclone Centre, on Saturday (November 9).
However, on Sunday morning she returned to her house, which was located near the shelter, to assess the damages. She died there - around 9am - when a tree fell on her, he added.
According to Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) estimates, one individual was injured in Koyra upazila.
In Patuakhali, an elderly man died as his house collapsed due to the cyclonic storm around 3am in Madhabkhali area of Mirzaganj upazila. Two others were also injured.
The deceased is Hamid Fakir, 65, Mirzaganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Sarwar Hossain told Dhaka Tribune.
Hamid was killed on the spot when a tree fell over his house, causing it to collapse.
In Bagerhat, a teenage girl named Samia Khatun, 15, died as her house collapsed during the cyclonic storm, when a tree fell on it.
Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Mamunur Rashid confirmed the news of the death to Dhaka Tribune.
Moreover, another woman, Hira Begum, 25, was killed during the storm in the district, a DGHS press release said.
In Bhola, a man died as a fishing trawler, carrying 24 fishermen, capsized in Meghna river near Ilisha area of sadar upazila. Some ten survivors swam ashore but the remaining 13 are still missing as of Sunday evening.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Superintendent of Bhola police Sarker Mohammad Kaiser said: "We are conducting a search operation to rescue the missing fishermen."
Moreover, a total of 20 people were injured in the district, according to the Bhola deputy commissioner's office. Among them, five were critically injured and sent to the hospital.
According to the DGHS data, 11 people were injured in Lalmohan upazila whereas seven were killed in Charfasson upazila.
In Barguna, a man named Mahibullah, 50, died after falling from a tree while he was cleaning up the debris brought over to the grounds of his house during the storm on Sunday afternoon.
The critically injured Mahibullah was taken to the Barguna General Hospital, where the duty doctors declared him dead, the hospital's duty doctor Taskiya Siddiq told Dhaka Tribune.
Confirming the news of the death, Barguna Deputy Commissioner Mostain Billah said they will be providing financial aid to the family of the deceased.
DGHS confirmed that 26 people were injured in Barguna sadar upazila.
In Gopalganj, two people, including a woman, died in separate incidents as trees fell over them due to the impact of cyclonic storm Bulbul in Gopalganj sadar and Kotalipara upazilas on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased are Majhu Bibi, 67, of Gopalganj sadar and Hawladar, 70, of Kotalipara upazila, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) SM Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed to Dhaka Tribune.
Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Sadikur Rahman Khan said: "Majhu died when a tree fell on her kitchen while she was working there, killing her on the spot. We will be providing financial aid to the deceased's family."
In Shariatpur, a man named Ali Baksh Sheikh, 65, was killed while sleeping, after a tree fell over his house. The incident took place at Dewjuri village under Naria upaliza around 2:30pm on Sunday.
According to DGHS data, a woman named Aleya Begum, 50, died after a tree fell on her, in Damudda upazila.
In Barisal, a woman named Ashalata Majumder, 60, was killed when a tree fell over her house in Wazirpur upazila.
In Pirojpur, a 55-year-old man named Nani Mandal died as a tree fell on him due o the cyclonic storm in Nazirpur upazila, DGHS estimates said.
In Satkhira, an individual was inured due to the storm in sadar upazila of the district.
Cyclone Bulbul hit the south western coastal districts of Bangladesh in the early hours of Sunday.
Leaving a trail of destruction in its wake, the storm claimed the lives of 11 people in Bangladesh, while media reported the death of 12 in India.
